Moderate Democrat Makes a case for Iraq

Thoughts from a well respected member of the Senate in the midst of the so-called debate regarding a "cut 'n' run" strategy in Iraq. This debacle, as it has become, is a long-term process whether we like it or not. The security and the best interest of the US and the Middle East at large, depend on a secure democratic Iraq, whenever and however that may be. Senator Lieberman, while diverging from the likes of the far left crazies, delivers a clear, poignant analysis on yesterdays opinion page of the Wall Street Journal.

Ol' Joe proves that just because you're democrat it doesn't mean you have to be a ravenous "liberal". The question is raised, could you vote democrat?

To the better half of Sore / Loserman's point, there are many good things that are happening in Iraq but is lost to the majority of Americans who refuse to dig deeper. This article came out this week but still lacks any kind of media play. Had this been an article explaining the awful things that were going on by a more liberal Senator it would have been on every news program and all over the internet.

In answer to the question, could you vote democrat, yes I could, and yes, I have.

Where did this whole aversion towards dems in the church come from anyway? You've got some more socially and fiscally conservative dems out there than republicans. Would you rather vote for a republican who is pro gay marriage, pro choice, pro tax cut without regard to big spending; over a dem who is pro life and for reining in the spending?

Regarding the media, I think they are lazy, yet very happy with themselves. They aren't doing much good for anyone. There is no real "watchdog" anymore, they report on the most lame and obvious crap. NO one gets to the bottom of anything anymore, they choose what they want to frame the story so that it proves whatever point they want it to. Read Bernard Goldberg's book "Bias: How the media distort the news."
