State of the GREEN Union

Energy independence, Alternative energy sources, and Dick Cheney's resignation? All part of the State of the Union, according to Thomas Friedman. This commentary brings up some great points about U.S. dependence on a commodity that is indirectly, and in some cases, directly, funding global terrorism, and how to best change the direction of our nation to become more self-sufficient and green? In this case, being green is not a leftist crazy ideology, but a long-term pragmatic view of a cleaner, self-sufficient, secure nation.

The Cheney deal and the global warming deal is bogus, but the rest of it is SPOT ON...
I am so tired of living in a world where we know that there are alternative fuels and we do nothing about it. I truly believe that oil will be the downfall of this nation. The United States of America will fall apart and Zion will be the only haven for world.
We had someone from Louisiana come to church for the first time Sunday, and he described his situation when the hurricanes hit. He basically said that in a matter of HOURS they went from a peaceful neighborhood to complete and total anarchy. Why? No energy. No electricity, no gas, nothing. Neighbor turned against neighbor and the military had to come in to keep the peace. Imagine that happening.. but across the whole nation? What if our ports are blocked, our refineries destroyed? Anarchy... destruction... our nation could fall in a matter of hours. I hope we realize how real this is.

We can not wait for the government to subsidize new energy sources, I believe that as soon as possible, we need to get financially comfortable, so we can begin to learn to live off of the land. If we don't, we will go down with the rest of them.
